Free Website Submission

Form active since: November 26, 2007

Hi There!

Welcome to the free website submission page of our Travel Portal. Here you can submit a link for free! What’s the catch? Unfortunately people, there is no catch. The only real 'catch' is that you:

  • have a relevant travel website
  • write a very good title and summary

As you might know, Travel Portal.info is a human edited link directory about (surprise, surprise) TRAVEL. This means that the editors of our travel directory decide which travel sites will be added to this directory. There’s no guarantee that the url you add here will be accepted by the editors. They always have the right to edit or remove the link you submit without prior notice. By completing the form below you accept the conditions stated here and the other conditions stated in the disclaimer.

Before you rush to the website submission form, please do take a minute to read the instructions described here. If you follow the guidelines and present us with links to high quality travel websites, it should be a piece of cake to get your link listed here. Help us built a high quality travel directory that serves the internet community as a whole.

If you own a quality startpage or travel directory you can apply for a link exchange.

Priority Website Submission

Some travel websites will be listed faster in this travel directory than others. This has, in contrast with other directories, nothing to do with money, payment or link exchanges (there’s only free website submission here). Take a look at our current travel websites to get an idea of what we are looking for. Below you can see for what kind of priority your link qualifies:

High Priority

  • A fully completed website submission form.
  • High quality links, Titles and Descriptions (reviews/summaries). Well written summaries of travel websites are informative, up-to-date and to the point. Website reviews can also be creative, entertaining and storylike (for example a summary of a link to a website with travelogues that contains a quote of one of the travel stories). By using your imagination and focus on the usability of your website description, potential visitors can get a good idea of the content they will find on your website and they will be more eager to visit it. Ask yourself:
    - What do I like about my website?
    - Why should people visit my website; What kind of unique (travel) information or service does my website provide?
    - How can I help visitors to find the right information and explain how my travel site works? (help visitors with site navigation and/or important contact adresses)?
    - How would I describe the travel site to family or friends?
  • Use (short) sentences. Do NOT use ALL-CAPS or only keywords like: travel, hotel, information, tickets. Use the keyword line in the website submission form for this. Avoid using cheap marketing & sales talk; be creative. You can use SEO-copywriting techniques for your title and summary when applied correctly. We understand that you would like to add your url for link building purposes. That’s ok. All we ask from you is to put a little effort in your website title and review.
  • We are looking for travel websites with high quality content: What is high quality travel content? It means informative, in-depth and up-to-date travel information that goes beyond the average “two-paragraph-tourist-information” hotel-pages. We are looking for true travel guides. “Travel Content” does not only refer to travel guides but also to travel-pictures (galleries), travelogues, travel services, blogs, articles, e-folders, videos or maps (city maps, roadmaps etc.). Writing a great description for a link to a high quality website will double your chances to get your link listed here. Pay great attention to this when you add a link.
  • Links to non-profit websites (government, universities, public transport, healthcare, websites about nature, culture and history, humanitarian organizations, voluntary work abroad, etc.) qualify for a high priority submission status.
  • Travel sites made by residents of a country, area or town are given high priority status and are encouraged to add their url here.
  • Websites providing (partially) free services for travellers (language translators, software / tools, advice, transport information) are also most welcome. Depending on the level of the free services, these website submissions are also given high priority status.

Low Priority

  • Partially completed website submission forms.
  • Completed forms with uncreative, badly written reviews or “standard” copy-pasted descriptions.
  • Links to hotels, hotel-directories, travel agencies or any other sites focusing primarily on selling a product (unless your site provides unique services and/or in-depth travel information). We are a travel directory, not a business directory.

Not Accepted Links

  • A Website Submission Form completed by a bot. If you use bots to submit links to this travel directory, the form will be deleted.
  • Websites that are NOT related to TRAVELING. Do NOT submit a link that has nothing to do with traveling.
  • Completed forms with incorrect or misleading information.
  • Webshops with no substantial travel information, but only descriptions of products.
FAQ

In what language and for which countries can I submit a link?

You can write your website title & description in English or Dutch. After completing the free website submission procedure, your (English) link description will be translated into Dutch by our editors (or vice versa). You can add links for any country in the world.

Is there a limit to the amount of free website submission forms I can send you?

Nope. To submit multiple links, simply use an add link form for every url. Always keep the guidelines in mind. If you have several travel guides on your website (same domain), you are allowed to submit a link for every guide or country, but you must write a unique summary for each link. This rule also applies to maps.

Reciprocal Linking / Link Exchange

A reciprocal link is not necessary, but will be appreciated. A reciprocal link has no influence whatsoever on your link being listed here or not. However, if you have a proposition for working together in other ways, you can always send us an email.

What can I expect after I submit a link?

After you successfully completed the add url form in the best possible way you can, it’s time to sit back, relax and wait. Help is on the way! Your website submission will not go unnoticed by the editors! After your link is accepted, the editors will:

  • Translate your link submission into Dutch (or English)
  • List your link in the appropriate category or create a new category for your link
  • Notify you when your link has been published (if you send us your email address).
  • React to all deadlink reports that might occur and answer all additional questions you might have.
